tattoo aftercare
Thank you for trusting Music Plug Inked with your tattoo. Proper aftercare is essential for healthy healing and to keep your tattoo vibrant and long-lasting for many years.
First 24 Hours
Keep the bandage on for 2 to 6 hours (as advised during your appointment).
Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
Remove the bandage and gently clean the area with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free, alcohol-free soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel (avoid cloth towels).
During the Healing Process
Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.
Apply a very thin layer of a specialized ointment (e.g., Aquaphor). The skin must be able to breathe.
Once the skin allows, switch to a fragrance-free lotion (e.g., Lubriderm or Eucerin).
Keep the area moisturized regularly.
What to Avoid
❌ Scratching, rubbing, or picking at scabs.
❌ Direct sun exposure.
❌ Swimming (pools, ocean, lakes) or soaking in baths.
❌ Tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo.
Extra Tips
Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen on your tattoo when exposed to the sun, year-round.
In winter, indoor heating can dry out the skin—moisturize more often.
In summer, protect your tattoo from direct sunlight: UV rays are highly damaging.
