tattoo aftercare

Thank you for trusting Music Plug Inked with your tattoo. Proper aftercare is essential for healthy healing and to keep your tattoo vibrant and long-lasting for many years.

First 24 Hours

  • Keep the bandage on for 2 to 6 hours (as advised during your appointment).

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.

  • Remove the bandage and gently clean the area with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free, alcohol-free soap.

  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel (avoid cloth towels).

During the Healing Process

  • Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.

  • Apply a very thin layer of a specialized ointment (e.g., Aquaphor). The skin must be able to breathe.

  • Once the skin allows, switch to a fragrance-free lotion (e.g., Lubriderm or Eucerin).

  • Keep the area moisturized regularly.

What to Avoid

❌ Scratching, rubbing, or picking at scabs.
❌ Direct sun exposure.
❌ Swimming (pools, ocean, lakes) or soaking in baths.
❌ Tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo.

Extra Tips

  • Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen on your tattoo when exposed to the sun, year-round.

  • In winter, indoor heating can dry out the skin—moisturize more often.

  • In summer, protect your tattoo from direct sunlight: UV rays are highly damaging.

Warning Signs 🚨

Contact a doctor or the studio if you notice:

  • Spreading redness.

  • Excessive swelling.

  • Discharge with a foul odor.

  • Severe pain that worsens instead of improving.

remember: A tattoo is an open wound. Treat it with care, and your skin will reward you with a unique, long-lasting piece of art.
